Local by default
If a feature needs your files on a server, it does not ship. The only network call in the whole product is the one you make to receive a key.
Creative work is increasingly a volume problem: one shoot, one edit, many platforms, many accounts. The software that answers that problem should run on the machine you already own, and it should not require you to hand over your files to use it.
RepurposeThis started as a rebuild of a desktop application whose workflow was already good: drop a source, choose a stack of randomised effects, get a batch of copies, check the output. That workflow is the product. What changed is the architecture and the business model.
The rebuild moved everything into Electron with a local pipeline: ffmpeg for video and audio, sharp for images, no queue server, no account, no telemetry. The effect definitions, ranges and filter order were taken from the original app and then extended — notably with the Fingerprint Lab and the uniqueness report, because “did it work?” was the question the old workflow could not answer.
Licensing is offline by design. A key is signed with Ed25519 and checked against a public key inside the app. There is no licence server to be down, no seat dashboard, and no reason for the app to make a network request at all.
No account system. No cloud render. No “growth” features that log into social platforms. No subscription. Every one of those would have made the product easier to sell to a certain kind of buyer and worse for the person actually editing at 2 a.m.
File-level uniqueness is measurable; platform-level outcomes are not promised. Algorithms change, rights rules exist, and no effect stack can turn borrowed footage into owned footage. The app does its part precisely, and the documentation says where its part ends.

Every effect is visible in the lab with a number attached. “Unique” is a measurement, not an adjective.
No credits, no render fees, no tier that removes a watermark. The licence costs $25 and the software is the same for everyone.
No guarantee about reach, virality or platform immunity. The app changes files; outcomes belong to you and the platform.

…it probably is. $25, one machine, no renewal.
